I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Views of Florida

This past week has been a whirlwind of activity for me. I have been busy and running around like crazy.

I finally managed to take some time and clean that pile of shells. Whew! What a job! I didn't think I'd ever get them finished. Now, I have get to sort them. This is actually almost as fun as finding them in the first place! Reliving the finding part, and remembering exactly what we did find. I try not to ooh and aah too much while cleaning them, or I would never get finished!

About the running around part- I'm in great need of certain findings (jewelry making parts) to complete some projects. I searched my town up one side, and down the other looking. Nothing, Nada, Zip of what I was looking for. You gotta be kidding me!

So, I search Etsy. The only ones I can find came from China. That's a longer wait than I want to wait to get my stuff. I have things to finish! So, I didn't order. I pondered on it for a while, and then thought, maybe they are listed differently. Just search for __________. And that was the secret. Not everyone calls this component by it's full name. Aha! So I have orders coming from various places across the USA. I can't wait for my supplies to get here!

Anyway, I wanted to share some more pictures from last weekend!
This boat is big! It's called the SCREAMER. I bet it is! When those engines kick in and it takes off, it looks like a SCREAMING good time. We are going to do this one of these days!

The Mangroves are so awesome, and provide a home to many species of fish and sea life.

                                      I love Palm Trees!

This mural is amazing! I would love a closer picture, but this was snapped out the window at a stop light.

I can't ever take too many pics of birds and wildlife.

Oh, the beauty of a Gulf Coast sunset. Every one is different. Sometimes the sun disappears into the ocean. Other times, into the clouds. The sky tinged in pinks and purples.

This shell was cool, but very much taken. Can you see the slipper shells adhered onto it in the 2nd pic?
How cool is that?! hermit crab beat me to it though....bummer.

If everything goes as planned, I'll be back soon with a shell post!

Seashore Sunday

Hello! A beautiful Seashore Sunday to you all!
Belleair Beach, FL
You know I love to be at the beach every chance I get...
but do you know what I want more than that?

I want my hubby to get out and go fishing in the Gulf!
Hubby and a black tip shark
He has only taken the boat out twice since Spring.
The Sea Road Yankeetown, FL

It has been way too hot to fish, but now that we have some cooler weather...maybe he will schedule himself some FUN time! The fishing poles have been gathering dust...the guys haven't done anything fun all summer. They always have a good time, even if they don't catch any keepers!

Nice Grouper Jake!
Nice "catch" Josh!
little crab on a sponge
kissy kissy (my brother)
Hubby, Brady, Jake, and Josh

Personally, I wish he would learn to catch shrimp! (now you know I'm going to have to Google that!)

I haven't had a fishing pole in my hands for 2 long years, and I would love to feel the tug of a fish on my line! ( but I always stay home and make jewelry :D ) Maybe NEXT time?

Did you go fishing today?

Have a Spectacular Seashore Sunday!

Love,
Del

Seashell Saturday

Happy Seashell Saturday!

As you read this, I am at my favorite place on Earth, with my favorite person on Earth....
My very best friend, my husband.

We are the perfect mercouple, sea people destined to live life on land. When we get to our favorite place, it's magical... a breath of fresh sea air... like we've come HOME.

On our 10th anniversary, we were at Virginia Beach, sitting with the surf running up over our tails legs, digging down in the sand beside us with our fingers. At the same time, we exclaimed, "I found a shell!"
His shell is the larger, gnarly shell on the left, and mine is the smaller, almost dainty shell on the right. After displaying these shells on a shelf for nearly 30 years, they now have a permanent home in a shadow box.
Along with other special occasion shells that have found a place of honor on our bedroom wall. I made these last year...or the year before.

We have been together, finding shells, and exploring beaches for 30 years.

We have been to some incredible beaches...but aren't they ALL incredible?!
These "in the ferns and tress" pictures don't look very beachy, but surprisingly, we are only about 100 yards from the lighthouse above, looking over the Pacific Ocean.

I have been so very fortunate to spend my life with a partner who loves spending time at the ocean as much as I do.
Today isn't actually our anniversary.... we got married on June 6th.
So, while you are reading this, we are doing some shelling, and relaxing at our favorite place on Earth.

I'll be back next week with some new pictures, and some new shells, and maybe some new tales....
of our adventure at our favorite place...the beach.

Have a Super Shelling Saturday!

Love,
Del

Seashore Sunday

Aahhhh...there's no place on Earth that gives me peace, and rejuvenation, like the sea.

From the pounding surf.....

to calming, peaceful tranquility.

Our amazing sea life...

and it's winged inhabitants, too.

There is just something about the sea,
that draws me to it's shore.
There's no place I'd rather be,
I could stay here for evermore.

I'm linking up with Gypsea Nurse for Sand and Sea Sunday!

Love,
Del
