I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Seashell Saturday

I have found many shells in various sizes over the years. Some have been the size of a pencil lead, while some of them have been nice size shells. Today I want to share with you one of my most prized shell finds. It may not be the prettiest, but it is one of my faves.

This Florida Horse Conch is one of the biggest shells I have found. It is weathered and worn, and far from perfect, but I treasure this shell. It's about a foot long.
I was overjoyed when I found this one about 7 years ago. It isn't everyday that you find a horse conch this size! I never in my life dreamed I would find one, so imagine my surprise when I spied this washed up on the beach. Actually, hubby and I saw this at the same time, and there is still a friendly argument about who found it. I'm pretty sure I was the first one to touch it ;) Our shell sits majestically above the kitchen cabinets, with our other large shells, and corals... some found and some bought.
This awesome specimen was of course, found on the Gulf Coast, around the Fort Myers area. I can't wait to find another big shell to go above the cabinets! They are few, and far between, but they are out there. I certainly intend to find more!

I hope you enjoyed Seashell Saturday, and I hope you find some wonderful shells out there! Just be a sweetie, and only take shells that are uninhabited. There are plenty of empty shells to collect!

Have a great weekend!
Del

I love big old weathered seashells. This is a great find. I have one similar but it is not as perfect. Mine is cracked and missing some pieces.
