I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Seashore Sunday

When we were at Sanibel in February, I captured a horseshoe crab!
                                      With my camera!
He was just a little guy!
This is my wallpaper on my laptop right now, and has been for this past week. That's what gave me the idea of sharing him with you today!

They are such interesting, and prehistoric creatures. The last shot is my favorite one.
Up close and personal ;)
I love meeting the live creatures from the sea!
Do you?

Happy Seashore Sunday!

Love,
Del

I LOVE Horseshoe Crabs, they are one of the most remarkable creatures from our seas and are beneficial to mankind. Did you know that no IV drugs go to market without first being tested for bacteria using the blood from Horseshoe Crabs?

They are captured, their blood is drawn and then they are returned to the sea. While some may see this as cruel, their unique blood has led to their survival being closely monitored and actions taken to insure this species does not disappear. Just as we donate our blood for good, so does the Horseshoe Crab.

Great photos!

I can say that it's the first time I have seen one of those.

But I love seeing crabs on the beach, some are so small and camouflaged that they are difficult to see and then when you do, you realise they are everywhere : )

Foolowing you too : )

I usually only see horseshoe crabs alive in the water, so to see your creeping on the sand is way cool! Great pics!

They look so prehistoric. I think that's so interesting about the blood being drawn for testing. Thanks for sharing.

Love the perspective of the last picture! I found an entire intact horseshoe crab laying dead on the beach when we were there in May. I have him on a shelf at home. They are just amazing looking to me.

SO COOL! I've only seen little sand crabs in person, except in Costa Rica when there were HUGE ones crawling up the walls (literally) of our beach hotel!
