I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Freaky Friday

If you have an aversion to bugs, creepy crawly things, and big spiders....then Florida isn't for you. And this post may make you squirm. My grown daughters frequently scream MOMMMMMMMMMMMM! It isn't unusual to find spiders nearly as big as my hand. That's what makes the girls scream! LOL!

Oh, and this little guy...
This scorpion was in the garage! He's not the only one we've found.

We see this kind of spider outside all the time.
From what I've researched, this is a banana spider.. and this is maybe a male banana spider. It's similar, but just a little different. It's actually pretty...in a spider kind of way.
 Isn't he beautiful?!

Now these are just ugly...and big.
These are wolf spiders, and they get as big as my hand! I took this one with my phone early one morning. I didn't want to turn on the light and freak him out. Sorry the quality is so bad. When these big guys walk across the inside of the garage door you can HEAR them! These guys are ugly, scary, and will COME AT YOU! They are NOT afraid.

And then there's the BIG weird stick bugs!
 These will spit at you.
The big female carries the little male around on her back. When I first saw them I thought it was a momma and her baby. Hahaha!

EEEWWWWWW! I do not like these bugs. As Kandi would say...I LOATHE THEM!

And then there's the millipedes.
These get to be a few inches long. I have even seen some that look like they came right out of the rain forest, or the jungle. HUGE I'm tellin' ya!

Centipedes move too fast to get a picture. They creep me out big time!

And then we have our seasonal LOVE BUGS.
Usually twice a year these come along to make a mess of every vehicle in Florida.
This is mild in comparison...but the love bugs are early this year.
They have to be scrubbed off with the "Green" cleaners. The mean one, and the simple one. The guts will eat the paint off your car, so you better get to scrubbin' real quick.

There is a myth that love bugs were created at the University of Florida. It isn't true.

This a just a fraction of the weird and freaky creepy crawlers in Florida.

Do bugs give you the willies?

You got some great pictures. I don't mind bugs - I was the kid who ran around with a jar and collected them when I was a kid. Now, as for mice, I hate those.

I have a HUGE bug/spider phobia! HUGE! It made the year I spent living on Maui a real challenge.

That was one good thing about growing up in Minnesota - the bugs never got a chance to get real big before the freeze set in again.

Oh my, I'm not a fan of any of these creatures! Fortunately if (when...) I have a place in FL it will most likely be a condo on the 10th floor or higher! No bugs there.

Okay my dream is to live on Sainibel FL. After seeing your neighbors I may have to rethink that dream. Scorpions. Wolf spiders. Yikes!!!!!

Banana spiders live in the mountains of GA too because that first spider picture could have been taken in the front yard of my house. We had one there last year....so gross. I have a horrible fear of spiders but I still want to move to FL despite the buggies. LoL

I for one love creepy crawly things except earthworms. I'm scared to death of them. This may sound odd but that banana spider is just beautiful! The scorpion, hmmmm, I could do without him.

My husband called me out to the garage the other day to get a big spider out. Geeeez! Ooops...don't tell him I told you.

Oh dear, those bugs are so creepy, we had scorpions in our bedroom, we caught 18 of them (on a sticky trap), than we had to move out of that place. I hate spiders, and scorpions, and snakes...
