I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Seashore Sunday

Happy Seashore Sunday!

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful day!

Everyone talks about what is on their BUCKET LIST....

I think we all should have one!

It gives us a great excuse reason to do some fun things.

One of the things on my bucket list is to visit US Lighthouses.

I LOVE LIGHTHOUSES!

I haven't seen very many, YET...
but I do intend to see more!

Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse

Inside the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse
The Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse is here in Florida...I bet you guessed that ;)
It is Florida's tallest lighthouse, and has 203 steps to get to the top of the 175 foot tower. It is also the 2nd largest masonry lighthouse in the nation. It was completed in 1887, and has since had a restoration, making it one of the best preserved and most complete light station in the nation.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, as it's called "for short", is located 10 miles south of Daytona Beach in Mosquito Inlet. There is a museum, and some cool old buildings (and Nascar memorabilia!) on the grounds. The admission price is $5 for adults, and $1.50 for children. It's a workout to get to the top, but it has been a few years since I went. Maybe I'm in better shape now....I'll have to go back and see!

Next week I'll share another lighthouse with you!

Do you love lighthouses?
Which ones have you been to?
Maybe we have seen some of the same ones!

Have a Wonderful Seashore Sunday!

Love,
Del

I love lighthouses too! I live a couple miles from one (Michigan City, IN). We love to walk the pier to it as often as we can. It's fun but still kind of creepy in a wierd sort of way. We also have a Lighthouse museum but I've never been to it.

A couple times a summer my husband and I like to drive (about 30 minutes) up to St. Joseph, Michigan and we walk the pier to that one too.

I've seen many lighthouses along the Great Lakes and a couple on the West Coast, but I would LOVE to visit some along the East coast.

They just fascinate me! I like to read the history of each one too.

Very interesting. I'd love to see that lighthouse. I've seen the one on Sanibel and one on lake Michigan. I'd love to go inside one tho.

I love lighthouse too! Have visited some on Long Island, in CT, on Cape Cod..., it's been a long time though..., and I have forgotten their exact location and name. Some you couldn't go inside.

We love lighthouses, too! We must...my hubby painted one on the wall in our kitchen! We've seen the one in St. Augustine and on St Simon's Island, GA and I've been to one in Oregon. I'll have to get back to you on any others! I would love to see more though...that's for sure!♥

Hahaha The light House we just visited was inside a theme park. You climb to the top ( about 3 stories) them cross your arms and sliiiiiiiide down screaming. Can you say wedgie? lol This one looks much more peaceful! Happy Monday my friend!

I've never actually been up inside a light house before. They always have such great, storied histories that I love to hear about, though.

Hi Del - I love lighthouses, too - there's a lighthouse website/national organization that you would love - tons of photos and some places where you can stay overnight as the "lighthouse keeper".

Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy!
