Yay! The day is here that I can FINALLY show you what I found!
So, I was tellin' ya about finding something really awesome at the craft show on Saturday.
Those who know me know just how much I adore my furbabies, and the Boxer breed. We have had Boxers for most of our married lives, and hubby grew up with 3 Boxers. It's all his fault that I am so smitten with them!
Our kids (and we, too) were fortunate enough to spend 11 years with Logan, a gorgeous brindle boy with cropped ears that hubby found running the streets one day. The poor boy was dragging a rope tied to his collar, and his neck was rubbed so raw that it was bloody. We did check the Lost and Found section of the Washington Post for weeks, but no one was looking for him (we lived in VA right outside of DC).
Anywho....he was the first Boxer our kids had....or remember having.
When I saw this piece of wooden art at the craft show, I made a beeline for the booth across from me.
This piece is a slice cut from a cedar tree, and is the most perfect Boxer Silouette. It so reminds me of our Logey boy. God, we loved that dog! I totally meant to save it for hubby for Christmas..... but how in the world could I keep this from him for 6 or so weeks???? That wasn't gonna happen. Nope.
The other wood surrounding it is walnut, and cedar.
This is the actual shape of the tree, and has been inlaid into the carved out backing of the piece. I wish I had taken a picture of the back. DUH! It's as beautiful as the front!
I always, and I mean ALWAYS buy a Boxer puppies calendar every year! They are soooooo adorable!
I printed off one of my fave pics of Zach and framed it just for this space. Zach doesn't have cropped ears, but until I find a decent picture of Logan it will do. None of my Boxers will ever have cropped ears again. I don't see the point in putting them through that just to make their ears stand up. (Sorry, that's just my mushy hearted opinion) We did it to Lynzi, and I'll never ever do it again. I love their soft floppy ears!!!
It took me several tries to get this shot of Zach and Bree. They just wouldn't be still! The only time they are still is when they are laying down LOL!
If you want a very best friend, get a Boxer and treat them like a child. They are so smart, and so very loyal. Zach talks, too! He can say Mom, Mama, and YUM! The yum is new. He just started that last week. This is how he tells me he wants a cookie.... Mommmm mommmm! And now it's mommmmm yummmmm yummmmmm. Oh, he has me wrapped he does! But, they do mind me better than my kids ever did! Unless it involves cookies (milk bones) and Zach doesn't usually take NO for an answer. He will beg and cry mommmmm mommmmm mommmmm, all the while shifting his eyes to the cookie jar on the counter.
I totally LOVE Boxers!

What an amazing piece of art - I've never seen anything like that. Your boxers are adorable. We have a black lab and a dachshund and the dachshund is my baby. I feel about dachshunds like you do about boxers.
Awww, that is so sweet! Such a wonderful piece of art in tribute to your babies. :)
So cool! That's a pretty incredible tree. And some pretty adorable faces :)
Hello Della
I have a pit bull and I totally love him. He is my hog ol baby!!
Cool silhouette.
Have a great weekend!!
That is really cool Della. It looks like your Zach! I think they are so sweet.
My neighbor has always had boxers. They are very intellegent and loyal. We've been around her boxers for over 25 years(not the same ones, obviously!).
We have dobermans. You've seen pictures of ours on my blog!
That tree sculpture is beautiful. And what a good eye the artist had to see what was there in the wood.
Get some rest after all the work you've done at your shows!
