I've been collecting seashells for as long as I can remember. From east to west, coast to coast, and shore to shore, I always find a treasure to keep, and adore.

Hometown Fun

Even though I love to spend time crafting and creating, and playing with my shells, sometimes I just need to get OUT of the house. To do something different and recharge my batteries!

On Saturday I did something I've never done before.
I went to a chili cook off, and dragged my hubby along :) Even though it was in the HIGH 80's!!!

The Livestock Pavilion was packed! This was my towns 31st Annual Chili Cook Off. I'm usually quite ill with pneumonia or bronchitis by this time of year....but not this year!

The gorgeous red Camaro brought in from Palm Chevrolet. They had a beautiful blue Corvette, too.

Our Ocala Cannibals had a chili booth, too! Straight in the middle of the above photo you see a black tshirt with a bright green logo....that's Jessie waving at us :) We wore our Cannibal shirts, too ;)
The Cannibals took 3rd place for best chili!  It was so good we went back for 2nds!

My hometown is where E-One builds fire engines and emergency vehicles. They had one on display at the cook off.

This fire engine is one puuuuuurrrrrty piece of equipment!

And there were belly dancers, too!

And a mini cheer squad!

Bounce houses for the kiddos!

There was a live band too, but we were so stuffed full of chili, and it was so hot, we were ready to go home...

and take a nap. ZZZZZZZZZ

The Lady Cannibals

The Ocala Cannibals were hungry last night and devoured the Vandalettes of Vero! This was a fast, action packed bout, and Cannibal fans savored every hit and jam. The ladies were in fine form, and the jammers had the track smokin' with their incredible speeds.

Militant Bulstrode #9 3/4 did some excellent blocking!

That's my girl in the red shorts :)

She jammed once, too!

I'm so proud of my girl, and so proud of the Cannibals. They are our hometown hero's!

Some great jams and lead jammers of the night included Erin Go Brawl, Ms. Jax'em, Lil Looney, Majikal Death Pony, and Lashes N Bashes....and Mili :D

Also some great blocking by Bonesaw Betty, and Fingaz Feltersnatch!

Really, all of the ladies did an excellent job last night, and delivered up a feast of fun for their fans!

They stayed in the lead the entire bout....

and kept the Ref's and NSO's on their toes!

With the final score being.....

259-51!!!!!!! WoooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

There is one more home bout in November..... The Feast of the Cannibals!

I'll be there!

Go Cannibals!!!!

Return of the Cannibals

The first home bout since July was on Sunday, September 30th, hence the title Return of the Cannibals.  The ladies were all in great form,  and hungry for a good meet. They rocked the rink, and took Thunder City by storm with a 221-104 final score.

Skate Mania was totally packed full of Cannibal fans, with some of us parked clear down by Dunkin Donuts. What a great turn out, and what a wild crowd! Wild as in cheering loudly for the home team! We do love our Cannibals!

It was a fun night, and a great bout! It was so good to see so many out to support the team!
The next home bout is October 28th. I can't wait!

We love our Cannibals!

Daytona!

I love going over to Daytona once in awhile, and since The Cannibals had a bout over there this past weekend, Papa and Mama Bulstrode (hubby and I) took off for the east coast.
This is the bridge that goes over the Oklawaha that I mentioned in my last post. See the little side road over there? That goes over to the boat basin, or Ray Wayside Park where we launch our boat to cruise the Silver River.
A road trip to the beach isn't complete without a fresh bag of hot boiled peanuts! MMMMMMM!

We travel state road 40E all the way to the beach. It ends right at A1A in Ormond Beach.
A right turn and a couple of miles and we are in Daytona!

On the way to the bout, I saw this sign....
Beach St. is NOT near the beach!

The bout was intense and my daughter Shae Militant Bulstrode was a Jammer a few times, did some blocking, and was also Pivot.
Here's my girl in the green tights!

and here!

Blocking here...

and Pivot here.

You don't even want to see ALL of my derby pics of her. There are a bunch!

Erin Go Brawl, Militant Bulstrode, and Lil Looney
Shae Militant was awarded MVP for best Pivot, Loony for best Jammer, and Erin for best Blocker!
See the sign behind them that says "Sin Bin"? That is the penalty box. Sintral Florida Derby Demons call their penalty box the Sin Bin lol. It was a tough bout, and Sintral won with a score of 148 to 68. Those chicks are fast, and they start in a junior roller derby league when they are little girls! It was FUN though!

After the bout, we skipped the after party and went to dinner :)

There are hotels in Daytona that are still under construction several years after the hurricanes wiped them out.
Like this one....
I'm amazed these buildings are still in shambles, but some have been completely torn down the damage was so severe.

We decided to just stay the night.....
and enjoyed sunrise along with our morning coffee.

I love how the buildings are reflected in the wet sand. I remember when there weren't any high rises on Daytona Beach.

Now it's time for Dave -N- Del to get back to work!
