Seashell Christmas Ornaments

Yay! It's Fridaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! And tomorrow is craft show day at Harvest Village! If it's as cold tomorrow morning as it is this morning, I will be bundled up like there is snow on the ground :P
It's 37 degrees! BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Coat, hat, gloves, scarf, socks and REAL shoes weather! And I'll be sellin seashells in the cold lol until it warms up to that promised 77 degrees in the afternoon :)

I totally despise cold weather, and I'm so very thankful that it's a rarity here!

I have several new items I've added to my stock :) One of them is seashell ornaments.

Pink sun and moon shells make great shell ornaments.

A coat of Glamour Dust paint in Ice Crystal adds a nice Christmasy touch :)

A set of white sun and moon shells with gar fish scale 'poinsetties' on them with a coat of clear gloss added for protection and shine.

These might be my favorites. Okay, they probably ARE my favorites! Yeah, they are :D

I really think my tree needs a set of these poinsetties!

I only did two sliced shell ornaments, cause that is all I had in this size of sliced shells.

A little Glamour Dust paint in Gold Glitz makes this sliced shell ornament sparkle and shine!

This is a different kind of shell, it's a tibia....the same kind of shell I made a mermaid crown out of. (That is another post!)

The jingle bells are fun and Christmasy.

Love this one, too! Okay, so I really do love'em all!

There may be some new additions to my Christmas tree this year!

So should I sell my sun and moon shells individually? in sets of 3? sets of 4? or sets of 6?
I'm thinking $4 each for the sliced shells, and $3 each for the pink and $4 for the poinsettias. With a slight discount for sets.

I still have some white spiral turitella shells to turn into ornaments, and some starfish. I also made a necklace and earrings, and new mermaid bookmarks. Today I'm finishing up the mini shepard  hook bookmarks, too. What ever I don't sell tomorrow will be photo'd and listed in my shop :D

Seashell Pins for Ladies

It was really time for me to get back to playing with shells, so that is what I have been doing :)

I've been working off and on making some seashell pins for ladies that can be worn anytime, or for special occasions like weddings. I knew I wanted to use paper figs cause they are one of my favorites, and they are just made to be filled with flowers! The idea started with a boutineer, but I really haven't any 'manly' flowers right now. So a ladies pin/brooch or corsage is what I made.

I love feminine girly things....and this IS!

I used a smaller size paper fig for this one. Wouldn't it be so cute on a jean jacket, too?

I really like this one too, it's a bit dressier maybe....

Navy and red are classics together, and this would be so pretty on a dress or a blazer.

And then I got really colorful, and made some more wine glass charms! You could of course use them on water goblets, beer mugs, or whatever floats your boat :D The idea is to not get your glass mixed up with someone elses! As long as the glass has a stem or handle!

And one set is just a tad smaller. These tiny spiral turitellas are so cute! You may have caught a glimpse of this set on my craft show table ;) I'm going to make these a made to order item in my Etsy shop.

I could do the same with the pins too, and have color variations....you choose the flower colors. Etsy has added so many new features for sellers, and sure beats the old way of listings items. At least listing an item is on one page now instead of....I think it was FIVE. Five pages to go through to list an item in the 'old days'. It was maddening! Especially if Etsy had a hiccup and you got booted.....then you had to start all over because it didn't save. Or if your power flickered and went out for a minute. UGH!

If you have been to my shop you may have noticed I have been skimming a few bucks off some of my items. I have to be competitive for the local shows, but I want my shop prices to be the same as my in person prices.

I have so many new beads to play with, so I hope to have something amazing to show you soon! I also have necklaces to string if I would just quit being so lazy.

This weekend is another Harvest Village show! I'm getting ready for that!

Hometown Fun

Even though I love to spend time crafting and creating, and playing with my shells, sometimes I just need to get OUT of the house. To do something different and recharge my batteries!

On Saturday I did something I've never done before.
I went to a chili cook off, and dragged my hubby along :) Even though it was in the HIGH 80's!!!

The Livestock Pavilion was packed! This was my towns 31st Annual Chili Cook Off. I'm usually quite ill with pneumonia or bronchitis by this time of year....but not this year!

The gorgeous red Camaro brought in from Palm Chevrolet. They had a beautiful blue Corvette, too.

Our Ocala Cannibals had a chili booth, too! Straight in the middle of the above photo you see a black tshirt with a bright green logo....that's Jessie waving at us :) We wore our Cannibal shirts, too ;)
The Cannibals took 3rd place for best chili!  It was so good we went back for 2nds!                   

My hometown is where E-One builds fire engines and emergency vehicles. They had one on display at the cook off.

This fire engine is one puuuuuurrrrrty piece of equipment!

And there were belly dancers, too!

And a mini cheer squad!

Bounce houses for the kiddos!

There was a live band too, but we were so stuffed full of chili, and it was so hot, we were ready to go home...

and take a nap. ZZZZZZZZZ

A Little Somethin' Somethin'

Remember on Tuesday when I mentioned my badge reels needed a little somethin' somethin'?

Welllllllll I worked on them, and although they are far from perfect, and need some touch ups, I did give them a little somethin'.

Some seashells and alligator gar scales made some cute flowers. The red ones resemble poinsettias :)

I do have a miss spot....okay, 2 miss spots where I need to go over and apply a touch more triple thick. And my gar scales flecked a couple of specks onto the shell. They really are much cuter in person. I'll be much more careful the next time I work with dyed gar scales!

I have some larger gar scales, and some smaller one's too. They certainly do have a Christmasy look to them. I bought them back in June or July at the shell shop in Treasure Island not having a clue what I would do with them. Maybe a clue, but not much of one :P I also wanted the green, but they were out. I really need the green!

My poinsettia is starting to turn!

I took these pics of it last week, and was looking at it yesterday between my comings and goings, and the bracts are getting larger, and darker! I'll have to get some new pics this weekend.

The bracts of my bougainvillea are amazing this year, as is the entire plant!

This is the biggest and prettiest it's ever been. I have a hard time believing that this was once in a hanging pot in my screenroom.....but I assure you, it was!

I am always amazed with nature, and the beauty that surrounds me :D

This weekend I am taking some time to relax and play!
